Mission, Vision, Distinctives

Where are we going?

Our mission, “Make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ through our 5 purposes, worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and Mission (Outreach).”

What will it look like when we get there?

Our Vision, “Connecting to the heart of God, individually, together, and in the community.”

How will we get there?

Through dedication to  the 4 Distinctives of Washington Church
The Holy Spirit moved powerfully in and through the early church. Our desire is to see that same power at work in us today. The Bible tells us some very specific things the early church was devoted to. We desire to have the same devotion.
Acts 2:42-47 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Prayer: The church described in Acts chapter 2 was devoted to prayer. We desire to fulfill our purpose by praying for individual spiritual revival, revival in our church, and revival in our community.
Sunday Services: The early church was devoted to the apostles teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. All of these are ways we connect to God’s heart at Washington Church through our Sunday Services.
Connections Groups: The Acts chapter 2 church were together daily, and had all things in common. We believe it is vital to our mission that we connect to God’s heart together at Washington Church. Small groups is one way we seek to fulfill the mission of Christ.
Outreach: The Lord added to the early church day by day those who were being saved. We desire to have the same passion for those in our community who have yet to know the fullness of the love, forgiveness, grace, and mercy of God through Christ.
